First of all, how do you know if it’s time to remodel? There are several indicators that might stand out when the time is right. Do greasy products stick to the surfaces in your kitchen and bathroom very easily, and are difficult to clean? Do you get the feeling that the current look is outdated? Are you simply bored of the current layout? Do you have mold? These are all some of the important reasons that you might find in your kitchen and would encourage you to remodel and improve the overall atmosphere of tyour kitchen or bathroom.
When remodeling your kitchen or bathroom, it’s important to understand the reasons behind choosing certain materials and metals over others. Here is a list of materials you may want to consider using under different circumstances:
Flooring is extremely important to think about in any kitchen remodeling job. The floor should be elegant, comfortable, and easy to clean. Tile and Hardwood floors are suggested for kitchens, due to the fact that they encompass all qualities mentioned above. Cork might also be another good choice.
Countertops are extremely important when thinking about both the longevity of the product and also the appeal. The countertops should look great, feel great, and have the ability to keep clean and not break. Here are several different options we have chosen to assist in your decision process.
QUARTZ – Mid-range price tag, little maintenance, and looks fantastic. Use rounded edges since it may chip if enough force is applied.
GRANITE – High-range price tag, little maintenance – however needs occasional sealing for stain protection.
RECYCLED GLASS – Low-range price tag, contemporary look, and may crack after prolonged use.
Over the course of the last few years, chrome has been the be-all end-all solution to the metals we see in our kitchens. We also tend to think that mixing different metals is a no-no. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
When it comes to metals, there are several different approaches we could take for our remodeling project. It actually could be a good idea to combine different metals to achieve a contemporary look, e.g., plumbing fixtures using nickel, faucets and pendants using copper, and bronze cabinet hardware. You can however, stick with the conservative style with all the same metals, such as all oil-rubbed bronze if you prefer.
For bathroom flooring, there are several directions you could take. Ceramic and stone are both good choices, yet are uncomfortable and may crack. They can also be slippery when wet. As a better alternative, we suggest Cork flooring. Why? There are several reasons, yet they do come with a few caveats. They are sound-dampening, water/mold resistant, dust resistant, comfortable to stand on, and hold temperature well (making it not hot or cold). However, they do need to be resealed occasionally for protection, and it does start to show sign of wear after a long period of use.
The fixtures in your bathroom can be either mixed or the same. For the purpose of consistence, we suggest the recurrence of a single metal in your washroom. Brass, steel, and even zinc, are all good choices with little to no drawbacks for each.
There are several different combinations of materials you may to consider in your bathroom and kitchen remodeling decisions. Almost always there will be pros/cons that you should be wary of depending on your certain likes/dislikes.
